Current Events February 12, 2013

On Monday we read from the Book of Acts Chapter 1 verses 7-9.

We daily stress to the class the importance of making the most of every day and not taking anything for granted.

The test results from this class were quite dissapointing overall. The class had an open notebook test that had a required listening component. Listening, which is different from hearing is crucial for success not only in the classroom but in life as well. I think that often the youth of today are so overloaded with stimuli that they become immune to focusing on information that is truly important. They are used to "tuning out" so much. While doing poorly on tests is not fatal hopefully this will serve as a proverbial wake up call and get them back on track.

I continually stress to them the importance of becoming responsible for their own successes (and failures) in life. The sooner they learn to be accountable and stand on their own two feet the better off they will be.
